Burn Baby, Burn

I always prefer an outdoor workout opposed to any inside a gym and with the California sunshine, it makes it so easy and convenient to get out at least 4-5 times a week, if not every day. I love doing any activity outside but my all-time favorite workout is at the…. (drum roll, please)… FOOTBALL STADIUM. That’s right, the “stairs” have become a part of my weekly fitness routine, and I love the versatility they have to offer! You don’t have to just run or walk up and down the stairs, but you can incorporate your favorite gym exercises with some modifications to them. No matter what particular exercise you choose, you’re targeting a wide variety of muscles on your lower body, as well as doing cardio, muscle toning, and core-strength… all while sweating in the heat!

What can you benefit from it, you ask?
• No equipment needed
• Increases leg power
• Increases cardiovascular activity
• Helps maintain healthy muscles, joints, and bones
• Higher aerobic capacity
• Increase bone density over time
• A little bit can always go a long way and help keep off those pesky extra pounds

Variations? Here are some of my favorite exercises to get you targeting and toning specific muscles:

Jump Squats: Raise your heart rate and sweat level by jumping over every other step and getting that booty nice and tight.

Jumping Stairs: Instead of regular running, switch up your muscles and routine by skipping every other stair. Or, be a dare devil and skip 3 or 4. Your thighs will thank you later.

Calf Raises: My calves always seem to be sore after a good stair run anyway, but sometimes I like to step-it-up and set my feet on the edge of the stair and raise up for an extra burn while setting my stop watch.

Lunges: Lunge up every other step to get those quads and glutes on fire.

Remember, it’s about your body and you becoming a better, healthier version of YOU :)
